Are the Lions ruining Matthew Stafford's career?

File this one under the ghost of Joey Harrington. I cannot believe that the Detroit Lions Coaching Staff or Front Office allowed their 41 million dollar QB to go out and face the Cincinnati Bengalsin the second half of Sunday's game.

I cannot believe that they subjected their franchise QB, who by the way already has a separated shoulder, to be punished like that.

The question seems to be, why was the point of that? What valuable NFL lesson did Stafford learn?
