Colts preparing to play without Freeney (AP)

Indianapolis Colts head football coach Jim Caldwell, center, arrives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.<br /><br />Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. The Colts will play the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV Sunday.

Coach Jim Caldwell says the Colts are preparing to play without defensive end Dwight Freeney in the Super Bowl, though he remains hopeful the All-Pro defensive end will suit up for the game.

Freeney's sprained right ankle kept him out of practice most of last week. He was already in Florida when the team held its final workout of the season in Indy on Sunday.
