Matt Ryan has signed a six-year, $72-million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan, the No. 3 overall pick in last month's NFL draft, is guaranteed $34.75 million in the deal signed Tuesday.

Falcons spokesman Reggie Roberts confirms the signing and says the team has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday night.

Ryan's guaranteed money is $4.75 million more than received by Jake Long, the No. 1 overall pick who also is represented by agent Tom Condon.

Report: Dolphins start contract talks with Long

Bill Parcells has made a move in preparation for the draft. It could be a fake. Parcells and the Miami Dolphins have begun contract negotiations with the agent for potential top draft pick Jake Long, a person familiar with the talks said Thursday.

The person did not want to be identified because the Dolphins have been coy about their plans for the No. 1 pick.

Negotiations with Long's agent, Tom Condon, don't necessarily mean Miami has ruled out other prospects.
