Wright to replace Soriano on NL All-Star team

David Wright of the New York Mets will replace injured Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs on the National League All-Star roster.

All-Star manager Clint Hurdle of the Colorado Rockies made the announcement Friday. Colorado outfielder Matt Holliday, originally selected as a reserve, will replace Soriano in the starting lineup.

Soriano, on the disabled list since June 12 with a broken left hand, will attend the festivities. Wright, who is batting .

Colorado's Matt Holliday will replace injured Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano in the National League starting lineup for Tuesday's All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.

Soriano has been on the disabled list since June 12 because of a broken left hand from being hit with a pitch from Atlanta's Jeff Bennett.

Alex Rodriguez won the popular vote and a slew of Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs will join him in the starting lineup at the All-Star game.

Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis were elected by fans from the World Series champion Red Sox.

Alfonso Soriano, Kosuke Fukudome and rookie catcher Geovany Soto of the Cubs were chosen in results announced Sunday.
