McNamee's attorneys ask to remove Hardin (AP)

Attorneys for Roger Clemens' former trainer asked a judge Wednesday to remove the pitcher's attorney from the case.

Brian McNamee's attorneys want Rusty Hardin removed because he also represented Clemens' former teammate Andy Pettitte in the days leading up to the release of the Mitchell Report.

U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison did not immediately rule Wednesday.


 

Pettitte to start minor league game Sunday

Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game Sunday. Pettitte, originally slated to start the Yankees' second game of the regular season on Wednesday, has been slowed by back spasms.

If all goes well, he likely will make his first start of the season Friday or Saturday. "We're going to see how it feels and try and stretch it out," Pettitte said.

"Then figure out what I'm going to do after that game.


 

Yanks' Pettitte throws off bullpen mound

Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte threw 36 pitches during a 10-minute bullpen session Wednesday and remains on target to start the third or fourth game of the regular season.

Pettitte originally was to start New York's second game against Toronto next Tuesday but was pushed back due to back spasms.

"It makes me feel good that I got through that and I felt good," Pettitte said. "I could just tell that I felt a whole lot better this morning when I woke up.

It loosened up nice for me.


 

Pettitte's first regular season start pushed back

Andy Pettitte will miss his first scheduled start of the regular season on April 2 against Toronto because of back spasms.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi expects Pettitte will start the third or fourth game instead. "He's better," Girardi said Tuesday.

Pettitte was slated to throw off a bullpen mound Wednesday. If that goes well, he would pitch in a minor league game Saturday.

"I'm planning on it," Pettitte said.
