Indiana G Crawford transfers to Xavier (AP)

Indiana guard Jordan Crawford has accepted a scholarship from Xavier, making him the second Hoosiers recruit to join the Musketeers in the last three months.

Crawford played in 30 games for Indiana last season as a freshman, including eight starts. He averaged 9.7 points and 2.3 assists.

He accepted a scholarship from Xavier on Monday.


 

Texas PG Augustin declares for NBA draft (AP)

All-American point guard D.J. Augustin says he is leaving Texas after two seasons to turn pro. He said Wednesday that he has long dreamed of playing in the NBA and that he is "ready to start living this dream." Augustin averaged 19.2 points and 5.8 assists to lead Texas to one of the best seasons in school history.

Clippers waive injured PG Cassell (AP)

The last-place Clippers waived injury-prone Sam Cassell on Thursday, clearing the way for him to join another team, possibly the Boston Celtics.

Cassell has missed four straight games with a sprained right wrist. He averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 25.7 minutes in 38 games.

Earlier in the season, the 38-year-old point guard missed 12 games with a strained left calf.


 

Red Wings acquire D Stuart from Kings (AP)

The Detroit Red Wings acquired defenseman Brad Stuart from the Los Angeles Kings for two draft picks Tuesday, adding depth to their injury-depleted blue line.

Detroit gave up a second-round pick this year and a fourth-round selection next year. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound Stuart had five goals and 16 assists for Los Angeles this season.
