The French Basketball Federation says Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah is recovering well from a troublesome ankle problem and should be ready to join his France teammates later this week.

Mavs won't let Nowitzki play at Euros (AP)

Germany will be without Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki at next month's European Championship in Poland.

The German basketball federation said Friday that Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would not allow Nowitzki to take part in the championship, even though the forward has played for Germany at several major international events before.

Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol had surgery on his left index finger after an injury during practice with Spain's national team.

He will be sidelined at least three weeks. The Spanish basketball federation said Tuesday that Gasol damaged a ligament Monday while blocking a shot.

He will wear a splint for 20 days, but the federation did not say if he will play in the European Championship in...
