Calhoun treated for skin cancer, will keep coaching

FOXSports.com News  Fri, 05/30/2008 - 13:43

Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun says he is being treated for his second bout of skin cancer in a year, and he wants to keep coaching.

The 66-year-old Hall of Famer says a lump removed from his neck on May 6 was malignant. He is to undergo six weeks of radiation treatments next month.

His doctors say there should be no long-term effects from the radiation. They expect him to return to a normal lifestyle, including coaching.

Calhoun has spent 21 seasons at UConn, with two NCAA titles.

Dyson returns to Huskies after missing 9 games

FOXSports.com News  Sun, 02/24/2008 - 14:18

Jerome Dyson has been reinstated to the Connecticut basketball team after missing nine games while suspended for failing a drug test.

The sophomore guard will be eligible to play Tuesday at Rutgers, coach Jim Calhoun said. "We'll see where he fits in," Calhoun said Saturday after the 13th-ranked Huskies' 67-65 loss to Villanova.

"I fully expect I would start the same team. There's no reason why I wouldn't start the same team at Rutgers that we have right now.
