The Oakland Athletics have acquired star outfielder Matt Holliday from the Colorado Rockies, SI.com has learned.

Star outfielder Matt Holliday appears headed to the Oakland Athletics. Two people familiar with the proposed deal say the A's and the Colorado Rockies have reached a tentative agreement.

Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade has not been finalized. It was unclear who Colorado would get for the two-time All-Star.

David Wright of the New York Mets will replace injured Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs on the National League All-Star roster.

All-Star manager Clint Hurdle of the Colorado Rockies made the announcement Friday. Colorado outfielder Matt Holliday, originally selected as a reserve, will replace Soriano in the starting lineup.

The Detroit Tigers placed right fielder Magglio Ordonez on the 15-day disabled list with a pulled muscle in his right side on Sunday.

Ordonez pulled his oblique muscle in the third inning of a 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.

Ordonez is hitting .307 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI. He hit .363 last season to win the American League batting title.
