NFL reinstates Adam 'Pacman' Jones

The NFL is giving Adam "Pacman" Jones another chance. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday the suspended cornerback has been reinstated by league commissioner Roger Goodell, but will not play this Sunday or the following game on Thanksgiving.

That would peg his return for Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh. Jerry Jones said Adam Jones could return to practice Monday.

Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was suspended for Week 10 of the NFL season by commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Johnson already was deactivated the last two weeks by Kansas City and also won't play this Sunday against Tampa Bay.

He will miss the Chiefs' game at San Diego next weekend under the NFL's suspension.

New England defensive tackle Vince Wilfork will be fined but not suspended by the NFL after meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell about a hit on Denver quarterback Jay Cutler, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The Patriots nose tackle met Tuesday with Goodell and the commissioner decided to forgo a possible suspension.

NFL owners discussed playing spring preseason games as part of a possible expansion of the regular-season schedule.

No action was taken by the owners as they wrapped up their meetings on Wednesday. No change in the regular-season schedule is expected for 2009.

"I think the focus was on how do we prepare for the season," commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones wasn't in the locker room Thursday to address a scuffle with his bodyguard hotel that police are calling a private matter that will not lead to charges.

It was still unclear how Tuesday night's incident at a Dallas hotel would affect Jones' NFL status. Jones, who practiced Thursday, was fully reinstated in August by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after the cornerback served a 17-month suspension for an accumulation of arrests and legal problems.
