Dirk Nowitzki scored 30 points, Jason Terry added 29 in his first start of the season and the Dallas Mavericks beat San Antonio 98-81 on Tuesday night to send the Spurs to their first 0-3 record in 35 years.

Dallas (2-2) also got 14 points from Josh Howard. The Mavericks shot 53 from the floor compared to 42 for San Antonio.


 

Wizards F Jamison sprains right knee (AP)

Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison left his team's preseason opener against the Dallas Mavericks with a sprained right knee.

Jamison's leg buckled while playing defense midway through the first quarter Tuesday night, and he had to be helped to the locker room by teammates.

A team spokesman said Jamison was out for the rest of the game.


 

Mavs' Howard charged with drag racing (AP)

Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard has been arrested in his hometown after police said he was drag racing on a Winston-Salem street.

He is charged with speeding 94 mph in a 55 mph zone, careless and reckless driving, and speed competition.

He has been released from the Forsyth County jail on a written promise to appear in court Sept.
