Quarterback Derek Anderson has been benched by the Cleveland Browns, who will start popular backup Brady Quinn on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos.

The Cleveland Browns added another prime target for newly re-signed quarterback Derek Anderson on Saturday, agreeing with New England veteran Donte' Stallworth on a seven-year contract.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Stallworth has played six years and 84 games in the NFL with New Orleans, Philadelphia and the Patriots.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson wasn't a free agent for long. Anderson has agreed to a multiyear contract to stay with the Browns, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been completed. General manager Phil Savage believed if Anderson had gotten an offer from another team, the Browns probably wouldn't have been able to keep him.
