A South Florida group wants to ban guns from hospitals and nursing homes in the state by extending a list of weapon-free safety zones that already includes schools, government buildings, and athletic events.

The law has sided with gun rights advocates who took the city of Seattle and former Mayor Greg Nickels to court over the city's gun ban.

A Seattle man who took a gun into a community center to challenge the city's ban on guns in city parks filed a lawsuit Friday against the city and Mayor Greg Nickels.
