Former Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress has been sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a weapon at a New York City nightclub.

Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub.

The weapons possession case against former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been adjourned until September.

Burress made a brief appearance in court Monday. The judge adjourned the case until Sept. 23. The 31-year-old, 6-foot-5 Burress shot himself in the thigh with an unlicensed gun Nov.

One year after the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep handguns, the justices have before them a new test of that right.
