Topix - Sports News  Sun, 02/21/2010 - 23:17

It seems the plan for the Kansas City Chiefs is the most set in stone heading towards the NFL Draft. They have one primary need, and the pick to make that need happen.

Charlie Weis to become Chiefs Offensive Coordinator

Topix - Sports News  Fri, 01/08/2010 - 01:21

He may have been fired in disgrace for the University of Notre Dame, but Charlie Weis is returning to a job for which he is far better suited.

The Kansas City Chiefs, or the New England Patriots of the west, have reached an agreement to hire Weis as their offensive coordinator.

Weis' last gig in that capacity was with the Patriots, and all he did there was win three Super Bowls. In fact Weis is the man behind the legend that has become Tom Brady, and he will turn the Kansas City Chiefs into contenders.

Can Holmgren fire Mangini now?

Topix - Sports News  Mon, 01/04/2010 - 23:39

Five weeks ago it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Cleveland Browns, would fire Head Coach Eric Mangini.

When Mike Holmgren was introduced as the President of Football Operations, it seemed to be a virtual lock that Mangini would be updating his resume, hunting around monster.com for a new NFL gig.

Then something surprising happened, the Browns went out and won their final four games. Sure we cold debate how much that means since the wins came against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tomlin to shake up Steelers starting lineup

Topix - Sports News  Tue, 12/08/2009 - 23:27

Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin vowed to unleash hell on his opponents in December. After losing, at home no less, to the pitiful Oakland Raiders, he is unleashing a little hell on his starting lineup.

The Steelers are suffering through their longest losing streak since 2003 when they lost five games in a row.

The current Steelers losing streak stands at 4, and two of those loses are ugly loses to the Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Since the Cincinnati Bengals swept their AFC North Divisional games, the Steelers are amongst a crowded field to make the 2009 NFL playoffs.

Topix - Sports News  Wed, 10/28/2009 - 22:44

Many NFL fans expected Chad Ochocinco to be the first player to get in trouble with his Twitter account. However Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Larry Johnson has become the first player to be told to stay away from his team, after using a gay slur, and talking down his Coach Todd Haley on his Twitter account.

Now the NFL is looking into possible discipline actions against the player, and the Chiefs may look to cut him as soon as this week.

Dolphins trade for Thigpen

Topix - Sports News  Tue, 09/29/2009 - 13:30

The Miami Dolphins facing a 0-3 start and the loss of starting QB Chad Pennington for the season to a shoulder injury traded an undisclosed draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for QB Tyler Thigpen.

The Dolphins were forced to make a deal having only Chad Henne and rookie Pat White on the roster after losing Pennington.

While Thigpen isn't a great QB, he is a serviceable one who played much of the 2008 season starting for the Chiefs.
