Georgia defensive tackle Jeff Owens will have knee surgery and miss the rest of the season, making the senior the second starting lineman lost by the top-ranked Bulldogs in the past month.

Owens tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's 45-21 win over Georgia Southern. Coach Mark Richt said Sunday that Owens will have season-ending surgery.

Tiger Woods decided Friday not to play in the Memorial as he recovers from knee surgery, meaning he likely will go to the U.S.

Open at Torrey Pines without having played a tournament in two months. Woods, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee April 15, was hopeful of playing before the U.S.

Open. His office notified the PGA Tour that he would not enter the Memorial, a tour official said.

More than four months after Andrew Bynum injured his left knee, it's been decided the Los Angeles Lakers center will undergo arthroscopic surgery.

The Lakers made the announcement Sunday, saying Dr. David Altchek will perform the procedure in New York on Wednesday -- the same day Bynum's team entertains San Antonio or New Orleans to begin the Western Conference finals.
