Gronkowski has surgery on left ankle (AP)

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Friday. The injury hampered Gronkowski in the Super Bowl, when he had just two catches for 26 yards in the 21-17 loss to the New York Giants in Indianapolis.

His recovery schedule will last 10-12 weeks. The surgery was first reported by the Sports Business Journal.

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has left the game against Oakland with an ankle injury. Peterson hobbled off the field at the end of the first quarter after a tough 12-yard run through heavy traffic.

His left ankle rolled hard as he was brought down by the Raiders, and he could barely put weight on it as he was helped to the sideline by team trainers.


 

Titans QB Collins to start, Young active (AP)

The Tennessee Titans now have two quarterbacks nursing injuries. Kerry Collins started Sunday against Miami and played the first half before leaving the game with a calf injury.

He was replaced by Vince Young, who didn't start because of a sprained left ankle. Collins went 9 for 20 for 51 yards in the first half.

Once again, Brett Favre says he isn't sure what he wants to do. The 40-year-old quarterback told ESPN that he needs surgery on his left ankle in order to play this season for the Minnesota Vikings.

In an e-mail posted to ESPN.com on Friday, Favre said he's deciding whether to have the procedure or finally retire after 19 seasons.
