At 23 wins and 30 losses, Omaha is rapidly seeing its season slip away. After a dreadful May, the Royals had to have hoped that June would be a new beginning.

Opening the month with a series against a Round Rock Express team that came into town sporting just a 23-29 record had to further embolden the team.

Pena is one of three catchers the Omaha Royals are currently carrying, and because of injuries and call-ups Pena has seen far more time in left field, than he has behind the plate.

The Maverick's magical season has come to a rather abrupt end. The Mavericks opened their NCAA regional playoffs with a win over Abilene Christian, the 9th ranked team in NCAA Division II.

UNO scored all five runs in one innings, rallying from a 3-0 deficit, and made it stand up for the 5-4 victory.

Chris Kessinger improved to 9-4 for the Mavs and hurled an impressive sixth complete game this season.
