Hornets sign Posey to 4-year, $25M deal

The New Orleans Hornets have signed free agent forward James Posey. Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein, says Posey, who played last season for the Boston Celtics, has agreed to a four-year contract worth $25 million.

NBA coach of the year Byron Scott and the New Orleans Hornets agreed in principle to a contract extension on Wednesday.

"I am very happy to sign an extension to stay here in New Orleans with the Hornets," Scott said in a statement released by the team.

"We, as a team, are a piece of the community of New Orleans.

New Orleans Hornets center Tyson Chandler and forward David West were in the starting lineup Thursday night for Game 6 of their series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Chandler bruised his left foot in the Hornets' Game 5 victory, and West has been having back pain. "I think these guys are fine and they'll be ready to play," Hornets coach Byron Scott said before the game.
