Star outfielder Matt Holliday appears headed to the Oakland Athletics. Two people familiar with the proposed deal say the A's and the Colorado Rockies have reached a tentative agreement.

Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade has not been finalized. It was unclear who Colorado would get for the two-time All-Star.

The Oakland Athletics and prized 16-year-old pitching prospect Michael Inoa of the Dominican Republic agreed Wednesday to a minor league contract with a $4.25 million signing bonus.

That is an A's record for a signing an amateur player. The 6-foot-7, 205-pound right-hander is widely considered the top prospect in his country and much of Latin America and is scheduled to play in the Dominican Summer...

The Big Hurt is coming back to the Bay Area. The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms Thursday with designated hitter Frank Thomas, who was released Sunday by the Toronto Blue Jays to become a free agent after becoming disgruntled about his playing time.

Oakland will be on the hook only for about $337,000 - a prorated share of the $390,000 minimum - so this move was a bargain for general manager Billy Beane and a club looking to boost its power numbers.

Athletics RHP Harden lands back on DL (AP)

The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, retroactive to April 3, and recalled right-hander Joey Devine from Triple-A Sacramento.

Harden, 1-0 with an 0.82 ERA in two starts, was bumped from his scheduled start Tuesday with a strained muscle below his right shoulder blade.
