NFL Draft 101: What should the Oakland Raiders do with their fir...

The Oakland Raiders are a mess, and they have the eighth pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

Fix the Franchise: Oakland Raiders edition

Topix - Sports News  Wed, 03/03/2010 - 00:53

The Silver and Black, the commitment to excellence, and one of the finest NFL Franchises ever, all that is true but the NFL game has passed Al Davis by.

To fix this franchise Al Davis has to give up some control, and hire a General Manger that understands today's game.

There are many Raider fans out there that seem to agree since they spent big bucks last season to buy a bill board to plead with Mr.

Davis to hire a General Manager already.

Raiders give Janikowski richest deal ever for kicker

FOXSports.com News  Tue, 02/16/2010 - 14:39

A person familiar with the contract says the Oakland Raiders and Sebastian Janikowski have agreed on a $16 million, four-year deal that is the richest for a kicker in NFL history.

2009 NFL season in review: Oakland Raiders

Topix - Sports News  Tue, 02/02/2010 - 23:58

It is kind of hard to bag on a team that won five games, and one who is led by a former NFL legend. However it is clear that Al Davis is behind the times of the current NFL, and his record in the draft lately is highly questionable.

It also seems, he is unwilling to give up on former number one overall pick QB Jamarcus Russell. Al shouldn't take it too hard, we don't see the San Diego Charges moping about the disaster Ryan Leaf was, but Al seems unwilling to move on, and that is hurting his football team.

Just how dumb is Al Davis anyways?

Topix - Sports News  Wed, 01/13/2010 - 23:57

Sometimes it really amazes me how far people can self delude themselves. Sure at one time Al Davis was a football genius, sure at one time the Oakland Raiders were the model NFL Franchise, and they are still an elite franchise.

However AL Davis' time in this league is now at an end. Not because we want to see him gone, but because it is just time.

Davis has just lost it, and his team suffers from poor decision making. Trust me I live in Detroit I have a PHD in poor football related decisions.

LA NFL Stadium sets it's sights on Jaguars, Bills

Topix - Sports News  Wed, 01/06/2010 - 13:39

Majestic Realty Company, the company behind the new NFL stadium being built in the City of Industry, California (a city 25 miles east of Los Angeles) has set it sights on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills as the two teams it will attempt to lure to the new stadium.

This new project seems convinced that it has an attractive enough facility to lure two teams to play in it.

While it seems a little weir that the Oakland Raiders aren't among the top team being contacted about the new facilities, even though they are one of several teams being considered.

Raiders fans buy billboard, want Davis to hire a GM

Topix - Sports News  Wed, 12/02/2009 - 23:08

The story seems to suggest that the recession has nothing to do with sports, since a bunch of Raiders fans had enough money left over to buy a billboard in an effort to get Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis to give up the reins of his team and hire a General Manager.

The Raiders are one of five NFL team's that do not employ a General Manager. Of those teams; the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, and of course the Raiders, only the Patriots have managed to be successful without a GM running the show.
