Woods to skip Memorial, still targeting U.S. Open

Tiger Woods decided Friday not to play in the Memorial as he recovers from knee surgery, meaning he likely will go to the U.S.

Open at Torrey Pines without having played a tournament in two months. Woods, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee April 15, was hopeful of playing before the U.S.

Open. His office notified the PGA Tour that he would not enter the Memorial, a tour official said.


 

Fatigued Els withdraws from Bay Hill (AP)

Ernie Els withdrew Monday from the Arnold Palmer Invitational because of fatigue, two weeks after winning on the PGA Tour for the first time in 3 1/2 years.

According to Els' management company, he was tired and needed rest before the Masters. Els ended an 0-for-47 drought on the PGA Tour when he captured the Honda Classic at the start of the Florida swing.


 

PGA Tour pro charged with killing hawk (AP)

PGA tour golfer Tripp Isenhour is charged in Orlando with killing a protected migratory hawk with a golf shot.

It occurred in December when Isenhour was filming a video segment for the television show "Shoot Like A Pro." Prosecutors say a red-shouldered hawk was making noise, forcing a video crew to film another take.
