Blake Griffin had career highs of 35 points and 21 rebounds, and No. 12 Oklahoma needed just about all of them in holding off Gardner-Webb 80-76 on Saturday.

Griffin's three-point play with 2:06 left put Oklahoma (4-0) ahead 76-74, and Austin Johnson hit three free throws in the final 20.6 seconds to help the Sooners avoid the upset.

Blake Griffin scored 25 points and pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds, freshman Willie Warren added 20 points and No. 12 Oklahoma overcame the highest scoring game of Stephen Curry's career to beat No. 21 Davidson 82-78 on Tuesday night.

Curry tried to will his team back from a 21-point deficit in the second half, and got the Wildcats within three points with a 3-pointer in the final minute.


 

Lakers no longer unbeaten

Amare Stoudemire scored 49 points, falling a point short of his career high in the Phoenix Suns' 113-103 victory over Indiana on Wednesday night.

Stoudemire was 17-for-21 from the field, made 15 free throws without a miss and had 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals.

He just missed his career high of 50 points, set against Portland on Jan.

Tina Thompson scored nine of her 17 points during the decisive third quarter run and Lisa Leslie added 14 points and 11 rebounds to help the U.S. top Spain 93-55 on Friday night.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points to lead Germany to a 104-68 win over Cape Verde in its opening game of Olympic qualification Tuesday.

Canada lost to Slovenia 86-70 in the twelve-team tournament that will send three teams to the Beijing Olympics.

The Dallas Mavericks' Nowitzki led Germany with 16 points and five rebounds.
