Former MVP Alexander signs with Redskins (AP)

Former league MVP Shaun Alexander signed with the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, part of a flurry of roster activity in which the team ditched its punter, shuffled its safeties and displayed coach Jim Zorn's strong ties to his Seattle Seahawks roots.

Alexander, unemployed since being cut by the Seahawks in April, signed a one-year deal to back up NFL leading rusher Clinton Portis.


 

Rams to bench Bulger, start Green at QB

Rams coach Scott Linehan says Trent Green will replace Marc Bulger at quarterback for Sunday's home game against the Buffalo Bills.

The team said Linehan was not going to comment about the decision Tuesday but would be available to speak Wednesday.

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Rams 37-13 last Sunday. The Rams fell to 0-3 and lost for the 16th time in 19 games.

This was their seventh loss in a row to Seattle. They have been outscored 116-29 this season.


 

Seahawks get WR Colbert, Robinson next? (AP)

The Seattle Seahawks took two steps to sure up their injured-depleted wide receivers by trading for Keary Colbert and reacquiring Koren Robinson on Tuesday.

Seattle agreed to a one-year contract with Robinson, its former No. 1 draft choice, on Tuesday afternoon. Agent Alvin Keels confirmed the agreement and its length in an e-mail to The Associated Press.


 

Seattle LB Tatupu gets deal through 2015 (AP)

Lofa Tatupu and the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a new contract for the Pro Bowl linebacker through the 2015 season.

The deal includes the final two years on his original contract for the second-round selection in 2005 out of Southern California, plus six additional years that keeps Tatupu out of free agency.


 

Duckett to sign 5-year deal with Seattle (AP)

T.J. Duckett is heading to play for the Seattle Seahawks with a 5-year contract, the free agent running back told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.

Duckett, who played for the Detroit Lions last season, has 2,642 career rushing yards and 36 TDs. He previously played for the Redskins and the Falcons, who selected him 18th overall in the 2002 NFL draft after running for 3,379 yard at Michigan...
