Dallas' Ware ties consecutive sack mark (AP)

DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys tied the NFL record with a sack in his 10th straight game on Sunday. The outside linebacker stopped Marc Bulger for a 1-yard loss late in the first quarter.

The St. Louis Rams quarterback was scrambling after fumbling a snap from shotgun formation and then getting the ball back.


 

Cowboys still aren't saying whether Romo will play

The Dallas Cowboys still aren't saying whether Tony Romo will play with a broken pinkie on this throwing hand Sunday against the St.

Louis Rams. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Friday the team is ready to play with 40-year-old Brad Johnson as the starter.

He called Romo a "bonus guy." Romo was expected to miss up to a month after he broke his right pinkie when he was sacked on the first play of overtime in last weekend's 30-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.


 

Haslett restores Bulger as Rams starter (AP)

Marc Bulger is the St. Louis Rams' starting quarterback again in one of Jim Haslett's first moves as their new coach.

Backup Trent Green started Sunday's 31-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Scott Linehan's final game as coach. Bulger was back with the starters in practice Tuesday.

He is the highest paid player in franchise history.


 

Rams, DE Long agree to terms on deal (AP)

Defensive end Chris Long has agreed to a long-term deal with the St. Louis Rams, leaving plenty of time for the second overall pick in the 2008 draft to report to training camp.

The Rams project Long will start at right end, beefing up an anemic pass rush. The team did not disclose the terms of the deal Sunday.


 

Daboll can't recall talking with Walsh (AP)

Former New England assistant coach Brian Daboll told the NFL he doesn't remember speaking with Matt Walsh about the St.

Louis Rams' walkthrough Walsh attended the day before the 2002 Super Bowl. Even if Daboll and New England's former video assistant did speak about it, "it would not be a violation of NFL rules," the league said Thursday.
