Magic hold off late Hawks' charge in Game 2 win

Following Orlando's humbling Game 1 loss to Atlanta, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said that if his team cut down its turnovers and played better defense, he felt like everything would be fine in Game 2.

His team only fulfilled half of that equation Tuesday night, but it was still enough to earn a victory.

Magic PG Nelson returns for NBA finals (AP)

Orlando Magic All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson will play in Game 1 of the NBA finals against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.

The Magic activated Nelson earlier in the day and coach Stan Van Gundy said he would be the backup behind Rafer Alston, who the Magic acquired in February shortly after Nelson went down with what was expected to be a season-ending shoulder injury.

Orlando Magic players say Jameer Nelson will play in the NBA finals, even though the All-Star point guard and his coach remain publicly pessimistic.

Nelson participated in a full team practice Tuesday for the first time since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder Feb. 2.

Cleveland Cavaliers center Ben Wallace is upset with Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy for accusing him of flopping.

Van Gundy said Monday he was bothered by the number of times Cleveland guard Mo Williams and Wallace dropped to the floor in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.

He said the pair fell down more times than a baby.

The NBA has rescinded the flagrant foul against Orlando Magic guard Anthony Johnson for elbowing Cleveland's Mo Williams in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said after the team's shootaround Tuesday he was glad the league took back the call.

Johnson drove the lane and extended his elbow in the second quarter of the Magic's victory Sunday.
