For months, the Heisman hype machine has churned. Athletic departments have debated how best to sell their school's hope for landing the stiff-arm statue.

Posters? DVDs? Neck ties? Retro ViewMasters? Maybe, just maybe, a mammoth poster in Times Square? Whatever direction they go, the excitement sets in long before fans take their seats for season openers in sun-drenched stadiums, from Eugene to Tallahassee, Chestnut Hill to Pasadena.


 

Larry Johnson Faces Stiff Arm Charges

Apparently, the football field isn't the only place Larry Johnson is known for stiff-arming those who get in his way.

The Chiefs running back is in a little bit of legal hot water as he faces simple assault charges for allegedly using the stiff arm on a nightclub patron.

Maybe she was trying to tackle him and his natural football defense mechanism took over.
