Clinton Portis' sprained knee showed no improvement Thursday, and the Washington Redskins running back appears unlikely to play in Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL's second-leading rusher left Redskins Park during practice, wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and burgundy sweat pants as he stepped into his Maserati.

DeAngelo Hall didn't stay unemployed for long. Less than one day after clearing waivers, the cornerback agreed Friday to a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins.

"He's excited to be coming home, he's a Virginia Tech guy," said his agent, Joel Segal. Hall should suit up for Washington's next game, on Nov.


 

Redskins to honor Sean Taylor this month (AP)

Sean Taylor will be inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame this month, following the first anniversary of his death.

Taylor will be honored during a pregame ceremony before the home game against the New York Giants on Nov. 30.

He died at age 24 on Nov. 27, 2007, a day after he was shot by an intruder at his home in Miami.

A blocked punt helped Pittsburgh overcome a botched onside kick and an interception, and Ben Roethlisberger's 1-yard sneak gave the Steelers a 10-6 halftime lead over the Washington Redskins in a defensive struggle Monday night.

Neither team was able to generate much offense, combining for 156 yards in the first half.


 

Springs, Taylor likely out for Redskins (AP)

The Washington Redskins likely will be without two defensive starters for Sunday's NFC East game against the Philadelphia Eagles: Shawn Springs and Jason Taylor.

Cornerback Springs didn't practice Thursday because of a strained calf muscle. He joined defensive end Taylor as players receiving a pessimistic assessment from coach Jim Zorn.
